When there is no written record, we must look to the bones.
Through archeological excavations, we now know that 10,000 years ago, the people of the Levant often times revered the dead by dismantling the skull from the body.
They would either paint on the bone or add in additional features with limestone plaster, painting on top of this layer with ochre pigments.
These skulls have been found across the Levant, dated to the time we now call the Neolithic.
The most famous of these are known as the Jericho skulls (and yes one of them is on display at the British Museum.)
Interesting 🤔 Will there be someone writing about us in 10.000 years from now?
